1993 Bay Thoroughbred Mare 16.1hh
Thoroughbred Mare Family 3-o

A winning race horse, a preliminary-level eventer and a 2nd level dressage horse before soundly retiring to motherhood at the age of 12, Gracie exemplifies the athleticism, conformation and heart sought by today's sporthorse breeders.

With her Warmblood exterior, correct conformation, substance and bone, "Gracie" had EU judges doing double-takes. Accordingly, she received premium status with the 4th highest overall mare score and the highest Thoroughbred mare score in the BWP registry in 2005.

Although bred to run, Gracie was born to be a sporthorse competitor and producer, a fact recognized by legendary horse salesman, Ira Schulman, who purchased her off the track after her 4-year old season. Gracie's pedigree combines: 1) a prized mare family that has revolutionized Warmblood breeding with its production and won Olympic medals with its performance, 2) a high degree of linebreeding to internationlly proven sporthorse sires and dams who have shaped the modern sporthorse and 3) proven and sought-after nicks in both the sire and dam's female families. Gracie descends from Thoroughbred family 3-o, the family started by the great Black Duchess, the dam of the sporthorse progenitor Bay Ronald (sire of Dark Ronald and Bayardo). Family 3-o has always "had the jump" and passed it on.She is highly linebred to the Thoroughbreds to which most of today's sporthorses can be traced. In her extended pedigree, she has 11 crosses to the French sire Teddy (nine from his famous sons Sir Gallahad and Bull Dog), 12 to Phalaris, 10 to Gainsborough, 10 to St. Simon, 8 to Sweep, 6 to Blandford, 5 to Bay Ronald, 5 to Man O'War, 5 to The Tetrarch, 3 to Black Toney, 3 to Ksar, etc. With respect to significant matriarchs, she has 7 crosses to Plucky Liege, 5 crosses to the "Flying Filly" Mumtaz Mahal, 5 crosses to Lady Josephine and even 2 crosses to Black Duchess, the mare who began the Bay Ronald dynasty. The true strength though of Gracie's pedigree is the synergy of her sire and dam as both are from female families comprised of powerful nicks for sporthorse production. While her sire's female family is distinguished by the nicks of Sir Gallahad-Man O'War and Man O'War-The Tetrarch, it's the duplication of these two nicks in her tail female line through the mare Beauty Spot closely positioned in her 3rd generation that sets Gracie apart. This mare can be found up close in the pedigrees of:

  - Selle Francais sire, Dark Tiger xx
  - The Selle Francais sire and GP competitor, Alligator Fontaine
  - Pan Am Silver Medal winner, A Little Bit
  - Olympic Team Gold Medal winner, Albany
  - The legendary Jet Run (ridden by Michael Matz), Pan American
Gold Medal team and individual winner and FEI World Cup Final
  winner.

Beauty Spot's dam, Spotted Beautiy, adds even greater acclaim to
this line as she is found in the front of the pedigrees of Olympic
Medalist and 3-time Rolex winner, Winsome Adante, Olympic
eventer Withcote Nellie and Denny Emerson's stallion, Formula
  One.

Gracie is the proud and devoted mother of the premium BWP foals Graczi (v. Aslan) and Hannah (v. Coconut Grove).

In 2010, Gracie did not disappoint! The result of her type-to-type cross with imported Danish Warmblood Cobra One, a Capitol-Caletto nick stallion, is a superb colt that bears a very strong resemblence to his sire. Corsair's temperament and personality reminds us very much of his half-brother, Graczi ... engaging, people-oriented and so very amusing.

Gracie is bred to Spy Coast Farm's Grand Prix stallion, SCF Renaissance for a 2012 foal. Fingers crossed for a keeper filly from this cross!
