Our Mares

Our family of broodmares is comprised of Premium mares who have proven themselves with their athletic prowess, strong conformation, sound minds and proven sporthorse bloodlines. Using the incontrovertable tenet of European breeding success, each of our mares possess a very strong mother line to ensure the consistent quality of their production with each and every foal.

A respected breeding friend once said that a broodmare is the most honorable and demanding job a horse can undertake. We took these sage words to heart. The life blood of our breeding program and the key to our success, we strive to provide each of the mares an idyllic life... they live 24-7 in a herd in the breathtaking natural backdrop of 600 acres of lush pasture and rolling hills of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Living a natural life, they travel miles each day, climb up and down hills, source water in natural creeks and springs and thrive off of California's prime grazing lands. Fit in mind, fit in body, our mares are the heart and soul of Avenir Farm (and they know it!).
