Hannah (aka High Grove)
(Coconut Grove xx - Well Selected xx - Fire Dancer xx)
2007 Bay BWP Filly
Pure and simple, Hannah is a Thoroughbred bred for the top of the sport and to be a key asset in a serious sporthorse breeding program. She has competition success running through the top and bottom of her pedigree. An internationally-proven sire, a dam with proven success in three different competition arenas, and a female family that has produced approved stallions and international show jumping legends.
Her conformation screams top athlete...Jumper? Eventer? You pick! A gorgeous arching neck that comes perfectly out of her wither, large, sloping shoulder, a wither that extends deep into the back, near-perfect loin coupling and a powerful hind-end with a huge hip and low-set stifle virtually guarantee that this filly will have a place at the higher levels of her chosen discipline. All this, topped off with her mom's bone and substance, a baby doll face with dow eyes and a friendly, laid back temperament.
Proof of her lineage, this filly loves to jump. Since birth, Hannah boldly seeks out obstacles to jump in the pasture. At just 2 months of age, Hannah cleanly cleared a 4'9" gate from a near stand still. This is the type of athleticism and bold attitude we were hoping for from this cross.
Hannah's sire is the highly sought after Coconut Grove. The breeding stallion of choice of Olympic riders, Coconut Grove has qualified for every major show jumping event: Pan Am Games,The World Cup, American Invitational, the AGA Jumper Championship and the Olympic Games. He descends from the notable Bold Ruler/Damascus cross, a nick proven to consistently produce jumpers. This cross produced the legendary Grand Prix jumper and sire, Napur. He is the first Thoroughbred stallion in history to be approved and granted improvement sire status by the American Holsteiner Horse Association and the American Hanoverian Society; selected for Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program. He has 100% approval status - 8 U.S., 1 Canadian and 7 European registries. No Thoroughbred stallion in the U.S. has ever accomplished this feat. Often described as "amazing" when referred to in editorial columns, Coconut Grove has proven an uncanny ability to jump from difficult distances and clear fences. He is agile, has abundant scope and his jumping technique is exceptional. He is is constantly sought after by the Germans, Dutch and French. Coconut Grove is the ONLY world class Thoroughbred Grand Prix jumper stallion standing in the U.S. today.
Hannah's dam, Select Dancer (aka Gracie), had EU judges doing double-takes with her Warmblood exterior, correct conformation, substance and bone. Accordingly, she received premium status with the 4th highest overall mare score and the highest Thoroughbred mare score in the BWP registry in 2005. She also received the 4th highest score overall in the RPSI registry in 2004. A winning race horse, a preliminary-level eventer and a 2nd level dressage horse before soundly retiring to motherhood at the age of 12, Gracie exemplifies the athleticism, conformation and heart sought by today's sporthorse breeders.
Gracie's pedigree is made up of many of the "usual suspects" of Thoroughbred sires that are noted for producing exceptional sporthorses in the US and Europe - Nearco, Nasrullah, Bold Ruler, My Babu, Raja Baba, Explodent, Jet Action, Owen Tudor. But it's her tail female line that distinguishes this special mare. With the mare Beauty Spot closely positioned in her 3rd generation, Gracie carries forward two powerful showjumping nicks of Bull Dog (sired by Teddy), Man-O-War and The Tetrarch.
Congratulations to Nonesuch Farm on the purchase of this lovely filly.
