March 2011: Congratulations to our friends at East Wind Farm on their newest arrival... a filly by Holsteiner stallion Cunningham out of Hialeah, a Coconut Grove-Solid Silver-Calypso II, stamm 2004 mare. Hialeah is the last foal of our deceased Holsteiner mare, Haydn. We're thrilled to see that Haydn's proud lineage is carried on through her daughter and now her grand daughter.
March 2011: Anczolo made an auspicious start to his dressage career with his ammy-owner Ellie K. Two championship qualifying scores of 68 and 70% and the High Score Award for the show from tough-scoring S-judge Melissa Creswick. Slowly started and trained almost exclusively by Ellie, this young Pandora son was the talk of the show. Congratulations to Ellie and to Anczolo. We look forward to more updates throughout the show year!
March 2011: Congrats to our friends at Marabet Farm! Their homebred colt and son to Papillon's stallion son, Balt'Amour, won his 2-year old Jump Chute class at the WEF Young Horse Show. Even more impressive, however, was that Bragging Rights received the highest score of the show through the jump chute, beating 3, 4 and 5-year olds, approved stallions and horses possessing some of Europe's most prestigous jumping lines like Quidam de Revel, Heartbreaker, Cassini I, and Baloubet du Rouet. Good luck to Bragging Rights as he competes on the line this year! Bragging Rights is for sale. If you are interested in this top hunter prospect, contact Maggie at Marabet Farm (maggie@marabetfarm.com).
February 2011: Co-owned with East Wind Farm, we'd like to introduce our newest broodmare, Carola. A direct daughter of Holsteiner stallion, Carolus I, Carola was imported as a four-year old to Canada where she competed with Jonathon Millar. Already a proven producer, Carola's pedigree of Carolus I-Latino-Fontan (stamm 3464) offers us unlimited Holsteiner stallion options with no Cor de la Bryere and no Landgraf! Here are a few pics of Carola from early on in her career... check back, her page will be up soon! Special thanks to Tonya C. for helping make Carola's addition happen!
September 2010: Definitely worth the wait... our grand old mare, Neah Bay, checked in foal to the Holsteiner, Acodetto (Acorado-Contender-Lord). In case you are not familiar with this exciting stallion ... Acodetto is a reflection of his internationally successful and unfortunately far too early deceased father Acorado (Acord II-Corrado).
At just nine years old, Acodetto leads the breeding jumping index of Germany. He received a perfect 10 for freejumping and a 9 for his canter and was Champion of his 30-Day test. His offspring follow in his footsteps, inheriting his stunning looks, excellent basic gaits and quality jump.
September 2010: We heard from Izadora's owner that they just learned that Izadora was the Northwest Sport Horse Breeders' Association Champion Dressage Breeding Yearling Filly in 2009. Congrats Jess & Zara! Not bad for just getting miles!
August 2010: Better late than never... we greeted Select Dancer's Cobra One colt early Wednesday morning. We were hoping for a filly from this cross, but Corsair (aka Cory) has quickly won our heart and our eye. Another (very!!) fancy bay colt (sabino & rabicano) that is a strong reflection of his sire.
August 2010: Cayah Bay, our Coconut Grove filly, has checked in foal to Grand Prix competitor and Papillon Rouge son, Jetstar du Lozon. Stay tuned for fetal sexing results!
August 2010: WOW! Neah Bay delivered a very big surprise with her 2010 foal...a very blingy bay colt by the BWP stallion, Fidelio (Torino-Columbus-Condino). Fidelius, aka Liam, has a blaze, a white chin, and four whites, including two very high whites behind. While the bling had us doing double-takes in the foaling stall, the legginess, bone, overall quality and superlative, easy-going temperament did not. H/J people take note of this young colt. Being the eighth foal of the very proven Neah Bay, Fidelius is a guaranteed future riding partner that will have the talent and temperament riders are seeking coupled with a very eye-catching exterior. Check out Fidelius' page for full details.
July 2010: It's another filly! Pik's Pandora presented us with a spectacular Blue Hors Romanov filly. As always, Pandora allowed the stallion to place his stamp on her foal as this coal black filly is a very strong reflection of Romanov. This filly is available for sale.
July 2010: We've added to our sales line-up. Quintessa, a promising youngster bound for the jumper ring, is by imported stallion Quidam Junior. Junior combines European jumping and breeding phenom Quidam de Revel with the top producing mare line in the world. If you're looking for Quidam de Revel blood combined with an extraordinary temperament, either to ride or to add to your breeding program, check out Quintessa.
July 2010: More success in the hunter ring for Graczi (Aslan-Select Dancer xx). His owner sent us another wonderful update on his show progress.
"Well, as you can see, Graczi has been a STAR. Just took him to Foxfield Summer Show last weekend to "play," give him some miles & experience in the pre-adult, 2'6" division. He was outstanding both days. Won 3 over-fences classes and was division champion, bringing home the Tri-Colored ribbon!!!! Both judges loved him, one even asked how old he was, and couldn't believe he was only 4 and doing so well. He has the best attitude, and although he had some baby moments, mostly out of the ring, he was all business 90% of the time. No lunging, just get on and enjoy. He had a huge fan club by the time the show was over..."
We wish Lisa and Czi much continued enjoyment and success as they put on the show miles!
July 2010: It's a filly for Papillon!!!. We could not be more thrilled with the arrival of Joie de Papillon by Balta'Czar. This filly is the full sibling to the approved hunter stallion Balt'Amour JSF and she is is everything we expected from a repeat of this cross. She is the total package for the hunter ring: superbly conformed with a GORGEOUS face, superior athleticism and the striking exterior to guarantee you will be noticed in the hunter ring. Joie will be available for purchase to an approved show home.
July 2010: We've moved! Avenir Farm is now located in Lexington, Kentucky!! All of the horses successfully made the trip and are now enjoying the legendary Bluegrass that has made Kentucky second to none in raising young horses. If you're coming to town for WEG, look us up. We'll be happy to introduce you to all of our horses.
June 2010: The first pictures of Pandora's first born, Anczolo, under saddle! Started by his A/O owner, he is turning just 4 years old in a few days. Already he is showing off his workmanlike temperament and immense desire to learn and please. Most exciting though are the glimpses of the competitor he will become as he continues to mature and develop.
May 2010: Exciting news from our friends at East Wind Farm! Their 3 year old filly, Hialeah (Coconut Grove-Solid Silver-Calypso II, stamm 2004), has checked in foal to the imported Holsteiner stalion, Cunningham (Cassini I-Contender-Mephisto). Hialeah is very special to us as she is the daughter of our deceased Holsteiner mare, Haydn, and was born here at our farm in 2007. Fetal sexed as a filly, this power-packed foal will be available for purchase. Contact Jennifer Hall at East Wind Farm if you are interested in learning more about this foal.
April 2010: Wonderful news from our friends at Sylvan Farm! Neah Bay's son by Agincourt, Acero SF, made his show debut and placed in 3 of the 4 classes he entered. More impressive though was the poise and grace he displayed as he marched around the courses like a seasoned veteran. Acero SF is slated to begin competing in the 6-Year old Young Jumper classes with an eye to the Finals at Del Mar. A true talent for any ring, this talented young gelding is for sale. Contact Judy Hedreen if you are interested in learning more about Acero SF.
April 2010: A heart-warming update on Graczi (Aslan-Select Dancer xx) from his amateur-owner after their first show together...
"He was wonderful!!!!! The cliff notes: brave, cute, tried his heart out, never a bad moment,a bit scared, but handled it all like a real champ in the making. I was so proud of him. Jumped everything, and as you will see from the photos, over-jumped...so he was scared and trying too hard. But i was thrilled with him and his can-do attitude. He is such a lovely horse. I think he is my very favorite of all the horses I have had (and there have been lots). Almost afraid to say that, but it is true, he is just a really nice guy."
We look forward to more updates from Lisa & Czi as they continue their showing experience.
March 2010: Happy Birthday to our grand (we won't say old) mare, Neah Bay. She turned 20 years old today! A successful in-hand horse as a youngster, a hunter, a Level 7 jumper and the mother of 7 foals plus #8 due early this summer, she has packed in quite a lot in these two decades. Very special thanks to her breeder, Sylvan Farm, for allowing us to purchase this special mare four years ago.
December 2009: Congratulations to our former stallion, Fidelio JSF, and his new owners, Smith & Green Sporthorses AND to Papillon's son, Balt'Amour JSF and his owner, Marabet Farm, on their successful completion of the 70-Day Test. After watching the boys at the testing, we are very excited about the arrival of Fidelio's first offspring in 2010, as well as the full-sibling to Balt'Amour. Here are a few of our favorite pics of the boys at the test.
September 2009: Izadora and Jess R. wrapped up their first in-hand season in style - Reserve Champion Filly with a score of 77.7% from a very tough-scoring judge at the Northwest Breeders Classic. Congratulations to Jess & Zara!
August 2009: Congratulations to Jessica R. and Izadora on their continued success this summer... Izadora received a score of 79 from the BWP judges in the Yearling Futurity giving her the highest filly score for the entire North American tour! Not to be outshined, Izadora's stablemate, Vesper (by Baron Van Gogh out of
Neah Bay) received the 3rd highest yearling filly score with a 77. Congrats to Jess and her girls!
July 2009: Things continue to get more exciting... our young stallion, Fidelio, whom we just sold to Smith Green Sporthorses, was approved by the BWP! The Belgian judges were very enthusiastic about the performance of this young Torino (Heartbreaker-Cassini I) son and the proven bloodlines he has to offer to American breeders. This marks the third approved stallion for both Torino and his dam, Jete (both owned by Jump Start Farm). Congratulations to Fidelio's new owners.
July 2009: Papillon's hunter son, Balt'Amour JSF, was approved by the BWP. Congrats to his owner, Marabet Farm, and his breeder, Jump Start Farm.
July 2009: Cayah Bay's sire and one of our personal favorite stallions, Coconut Grove, is featured in this month's Warmbloods Today. To read this article chronicling this unique stallion's life and career, click here.
