Cayah Bay

(Coconut Grove xx - Final Pool xx - And Behold xx)
2007 Bay Thoroughbred Filly (registered BWP)

A truly unique Thoroughbred in today's sporthorse breeding world. Like her mother before her, Cayah Bay (aka Kai), was bred purely to be a sporthorse. She has success at the top level of the show jumping world running throughout the top and bottom of her pedigree. An internationally-proven sire, a dam with success at the highest levels of the jumper world, an internationally-proven grand-sire and a female family that has produced international competitiors, including an approved Grand Prix jumper stallion.

Kai's sire is the highly sought after Coconut Grove. Coconut Grove has qualified for every major show jumping event: Pan Am Games,The World Cup, American Invitational, the AGA Jumper Championship and the Olympic Games. He descends from the notable Bold Ruler/Damascus cross, a nick proven to consistently produce jumpers. He is the first Thoroughbred stallion in history to be approved and granted improvement sire status by the American Holsteiner Horse Association and the American Hanoverian Society (selected for the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program). He has 100% approval status - 8 U.S., 1 Canadian and 7 European registries. No Thoroughbred stallion in the U.S. has ever accomplished this feat. Often described as "amazing" when referred to in editorial columns, Coconut Grove has proven an uncanny ability to jump from difficult distances and clear fences. He is agile, has abundant scope and his jumping technique is exceptional. He is is constantly sought after by the Germans, Dutch and French. Coconut Grove is the ONLY world class Thoroughbred Grand Prix jumper stallion standing in the U.S. today.

Bred for sport by Sylvan Farm, Kai's dam, Neah Bay descends from a proven sire and dam-line of high level sporthorse performers and producers. Neah Bay was an accomplished hunter and then moved to the jumper ring where she successfully competed up to Level 7 and was moving up to Grand Prix when a severe pasture injury ended her career. Her sire is the international Grand Prix and World Cup horse, Final Pool xx. A proven producer of both jumpers and dressage horses, Final Pool was one of the few Thoroughbred stallions ever approved for breeding by the NA/WPN. Neah Bay stamps her offspring with her jump and a born-broke temperament.

Kai's grand-dam, Ambling Picture, is the dam of Pia Blanca, a top producing mare in the AHS. Ambling Picture is also the grand-dam of the approved Oldenburg stallion, Agincourt, who jumped successfully at the Grand Prix level with Hap Hansen and the Hanoverian gelding, Far Star, who represented the USEF and American Hanoverian Society in the 5 Year Old Division of the FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Jumpers, at Zangersheide, Belgium in 2003.

The success of Ambling Picture and her daughters as prepotent progenitors of jumping horses is no wonder as she has three crosses to the stallion Teddy, an extremely important stallion in jumping pedigrees on both sides of the Atlantic. In Ambling Picture's motherline, she has two crosses to the Teddy son, Sir Gallahad III, and in her sire line is none other than Sir Gallahad III's equally famous full brother, Bull Dog. These two legendary Teddy sons have left an indelible mark on the sporthorse breeding world as they are all-too-often found in the pedigrees of many of the great international jumping horses.

Kai was Reserve Champion Filly of the BWP North American tour in 2007. Due to Kai's unqiue performance and production-proven bloodlines, coupled with her strong sporthorse conformation, jump and movement, we will be retaining Kai as part of our breeding program. She will be bred in 2010 and then will start her performance career with Grand Prix trainer John Brown.
